The multifunctional mobile intelligent decontamination unit developed and manufactured by Chengdu South Electronic Instrument has successfully passed acceptance by China General Nuclear Power Research Institute.
The unit consists of machine-vision, radiation-detection, decontamination, mobile-platform and robotic-arm modules. It is designed for radioactive environments and can measure radiation levels, locate contamination and remove contamination from suspected objects or work areas such as steel drums, containers and transfer channels.
The radiation-detection system can detect alpha, beta and gamma radiation, with sensors that can be changed quickly for different application scenarios. The tracked mobile platform has a total payload of 100 kg and carries the manipulator, decontamination device, contamination-storage module and other functional components.
