Radioactive Waste Drum Lid Removal and Sealing Solution

Project Background

During the collection, sorting and treatment of radioactive waste at nuclear power plants, nuclear-industry facilities and disposal sites, waste is commonly packaged in steel drums. Lid removal and resealing are frequent operations, but traditional handling relies heavily on operators, provides limited automation and increases the time personnel spend in potentially exposed areas.

A more automated process is required to reduce manual intervention, standardize operation and improve personnel safety.
